Introducing Gamification to Students
Talk to your students. It is important that teachers understand their students’ views regarding digital games. Do they like them? Are they motivated by them? Are they comfortable using them, particularly when used as a learning tool? Do they think they can learn from them and apply what they learn to other areas of their lives? Their answers to these questions should directly impact your decision to use digital games in your classroom, since every teacher’s main objective is to positively support your students’ learning. Try giving your class a survey to gauge their interest and concerns of using digital games and then follow up with a class discussion so that you and your students can voice your opinions.
